
All GP practices are contracted to provide “essential services”, that is, basic treatment of ill people. We also provide the following
“additional services”
- Child health surveillance, together with the Health Visiting Team
- General contraceptive services
- Maternity services in antenatal and postnatal period, together with Health Visiting team and midwives from Southern General.
- Routine immunisation of children, together with Health Visiting team.
- Travel vaccinations – please ask nurse for details
- Cervical smears
We also hold contracts with GGNHSB for the following
“enhanced” services.
- Annual flu immunisation programme for the elderly and at risk groups.
- Coil fitting
- Regular monitoring, by blood and urine tests, for patients on a range of drugs.
- Minor surgery (joint injections)
- Pre chemotherapy blood tests
- Annual review by specialist nurse for patients with MS
- Enhanced care for Adults with Learning Disability
Comprehensive annual reviews for patients with:
- Heart disease
- Stroke/TIA
- Diabetes - including podiatry and dietary review
- Ischaemic Heart Disease
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Asthma
- Hypertension – 6 monthly
- Epilepsy
- Severe Mental Health Problems
