The website feature real-life accounts of issues such as effect on work and education, social life and relationships, consulting health professionals and treatment.
Macmillan Cancer Support
One in three of us will get cancer and it’s the toughest thing most of us will ever face. If you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, or a loved one has, you’ll want a team of people in your corner supporting you every step of the way. Macmillan provide practical, medical and financial support and push for better cancer care.

Clinics and Services

servicesAll GP practices are contracted to provide “essential services”, that is, basic treatment of ill people. We also provide the following “additional services”

  • Child health surveillance, together with the Health Visiting Team
  • General contraceptive services
  • Maternity services in antenatal and postnatal period, together with Health Visiting team and midwives from Southern General.
  • Routine immunisation of children, together with Health Visiting team.
  • Travel vaccinations – please ask nurse for details
  • Cervical smears
We also hold contracts with GGNHSB for the following “enhanced” services.
  • Annual flu immunisation programme for the elderly and at risk groups.
  • Coil fitting
  • Regular monitoring, by blood and urine tests, for patients on a range of drugs.
  • Minor surgery (joint injections)
  • Pre chemotherapy blood tests
  • Annual review by specialist nurse for patients with MS
  • Enhanced care for Adults with Learning Disability

Comprehensive annual reviews for patients with:

  • Heart disease
  • Stroke/TIA
  • Diabetes - including podiatry and dietary review
  • Ischaemic Heart Disease
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Asthma
  • Hypertension – 6 monthly
  • Epilepsy
  • Severe Mental Health Problems
